ONLINE: Zine Explorations: Capturing our Creativity in a Playful Way Online

According to “The Creative Independent” online, Zines are a “great way to publish your own art, poems, writing, musings, and anything else you want to express—without needing anyone else’s permission to do so.”

Ultimately they are little notations that say “I’m here! Look at what I love to play with.”

In this class, we’ll playfully connect with our “best bits,” those creative works we love the most and then put them into a sharable form, aka make a cool little zine of:

  • Short essays
  • Poems
  • Lists of favorites such as garden vegetables, flowers, artwork
  • Collages
  • Favorite life moments and memories
  • Photos
  • And more!

No prior experience is necessary. The only supplies that are needed are your favorite form of writing, regular printing paper, and, if desired, a color or black-and-white printer.

In each class, instructor Kat Fitzpatrick will lead the group in fun and expanding warm-up exercises, a 20-minute quiet writing session, and optional sharing. Kat facilitates a caring and supportive atmosphere; there is never any pressure to share.
