Living your Legacy | The Making of an Ethical Will to Enliven your Life Today In-Person

What is an Ethical Will? It is a personal document that embodies your values, experiences, and life lessons. Traditionally created to convey these things to your family and loved ones, it can also be a valuable exercise and document to benefit you today.

Over the course of six weeks, we will work with some of the elements of a traditional ethical will such as:

Identifying our favorite things

  • places & activities

  • movies, books, music

  • foods & hobbies

Developing a description of our family life & traditions:

  • The most important thing I learned from my closest relationships

  • Family traditions

  • My favorite story from my childhood

Framing our professional life

  • best / worst jobs ever

  • What prompted me to choose my main profession/career

  • If I had it to do over again, I would have become a:

And more!

From our free-writing session, we will soon have a collection of life experiences and personally satisfying realizations. Guidance will be provided on how to formalize this into a document that can be gifted to posterity but that step is not required.

In each class, instructor Kat Fitzpatrick will lead you in fun and expanding warm-up exercises, a 20-minute quiet writing session, and optional sharing. Kat facilitates a caring and supportive atmosphere; there is never any pressure to share.

Whether you are a seasoned writer looking for company or someone new to writing, this class is sure to help you find new ways of capturing your past and living more fully into your legacy now.
